Scabbard (aka: Mike W.
Yorke) has been spearheading our Campaign to FLY THE JOLLY ROGER over Dowdy-Flicklen
Stadium. Mike has so far done one hell of a job. He has with, good old Pirate pride,
taken the initiative and had the Banner Designed and Manufactured. I haven't seen
it, but I hear its Beautiful!!! Mike has also found us a flying services to take our
Symbol Skyward. Up to this point, much of the funding for this project has come out
of Scabbards own pocket, with the APPRECIATED HELP of a few fellow Pirates.
But for this project to be the sucess that I'm sure we ALL want, we now need to help with
the wallets/checkbooks. We're not looking for small group to make large
donations. We're looking for a large group to "Nickel and Dime" this
project off the ground. Literally! Send $50 bucks if you can. If

-Here is the count through Saturday 9/26/98 's mail. Money spent
$895.00 Money received - $865.00 Recieved
one generous check from Raleigh Saturday that put us in this approximate break even
situation. Understand more is on the way down the hill from Guilford County so the first
flyover should be paid up. I plan to go see the banner this week. I
hope that the show is good Saturday & may inspire further contributions to keep it
flying. Deal calls for flyover to start just after kickoff &
include 8 laps around Ficklen during the first half. BEAT ARMY. MWY Update
#2 Scabbard (Wednesday Sept. 30th) I have
made a mistake. The flyover is scheduled SECOND after kickoff not SECONDS. This could be
as late as beginning of 2nd qtr or there abouts. The contract was hand written & the
words were not very clear, but when I talked to the manager of the service this morning
the misunderstanding became clear. He is going to ask the earlier customer to exchange
slots with us but is making no promises. Sorry for the foul up. should have read closer.
